Endocrinology at Poliklinika Sente
An endocrinologist deals with the endocrine glands and the hormones they produce: the thyroid, the pituitary, the adrenal glands, the pancreas and the sex glands.
Hormonal disorders often cause non-specific symptoms: tiredness, weight change, nervousness, palpitations, hair loss or menstrual irregularities. They are easily put down to stress or age and are found only through an examination and hormone tests.
At Poliklinika Sente endocrinologists follow patients with diseases of the thyroid, pituitary and adrenal glands, diabetes, obesity and high blood fats, hormonal disorders in women and osteoporosis.
Thyroid ultrasound and bone density measurement (DEXA) are done at the Polyclinic, and samples for hormone, blood sugar and blood fat tests are taken on site, in cooperation with the Medlab laboratory.

Do I need to fast before seeing an endocrinologist?
Not for the examination itself, but blood sugar and blood fat tests are done on an empty stomach. If you are having tests together with the examination, ask how to prepare when you book. Bring previous hormone and ultrasound results and a list of your treatment.
