Internal medicine deals with diseases of the internal organs: the heart and blood vessels, the digestive organs, the kidneys, the endocrine glands, the blood, the joints and connective tissue. An internist is often the first specialist a patient sees when symptoms are not tied to one organ, such as long-lasting fatigue, weight loss or abnormal laboratory results.
A good internal medicine examination brings symptoms, findings and current treatment together into one picture. That is the basis for deciding on the next step: further tests, an ultrasound or an appointment with a subspecialist.
At Poliklinika Sente internists work alongside subspecialists in every branch of internal medicine, so after a general examination a patient can, when needed, be referred to a cardiologist, endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, haematologist, nephrologist, rheumatologist or oncologist in the same building, without going to another address.
ECG, ultrasound diagnostics and sample collection for laboratory tests, in cooperation with the Medlab laboratory, are available alongside the examination.
When you book, say which doctor you would like to see. If there is no free appointment with that doctor, reception will offer you the nearest available slot.

Examinations carried out at Poliklinika Sente, with a description of what they involve and how to prepare.
An ECG is a recording of the heart's electrical activity, taken through electrodes placed on the chest. Within a few minutes it shows the rhythm and rate of the heartbeat.
What it involves and how to prepare →Ultrasound shows organs and tissues in real time, without radiation and without pain. It is completely safe, so the examination can be repeated as often as necessary.
What it involves and how to prepare →A pulse oximeter measures the oxygen saturation of the blood (SpO2) and the pulse within seconds, without a needle. The clip-shaped sensor is placed on a finger.
What it involves and how to prepare →A conversation about your symptoms, past illnesses and treatment, a physical examination, blood pressure and pulse measurement and, if needed, an ECG. Based on the findings the internist suggests laboratory tests, an ultrasound or an appointment with a subspecialist. Bring your previous results and a list of the medicines you take.
